Gas TSO of Ukraine Launches Bundled Capacity Auctions at Cross-Border Interconnection Points: First Auctions Will Take Place on July 6
As a reminder, in June the NEURC adopted a decision to introduce the bundled capacity mechanism at cross-border interconnection points, effective from the 2026/2027 gas year.
The implementation of this mechanism is another step towards aligning the Ukrainian gas market with European legislation and the Network Code on Capacity Allocation Mechanisms.
Bundled capacity products allow booking of capacity on both sides of an interconnection point within a single auction and a single capacity product.
The Gas TSO of Ukraine, together with adjacent transmission system operators, has completed the necessary regulatory and operational measures to implement the bundled capacity mechanism.
Today, 6 July 2026, the first annual auctions for the allocation of bundled capacity will be held at the cross-border interconnection points with Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. Information regarding bundled auctions at the interconnection points with Poland and Slovakia will be announced separately.
‘The implementation of the bundled capacity mechanism is the result of close coordination between the Gas TSO of Ukraine and adjacent TSOs, national regulators, and European institutions. We highly appreciate the constructive cooperation of our partners, which has enabled us to ensure readiness for the first bundled capacity auctions from the very beginning of the new gas year,’ said Nataliya Boyko, acting General Director of Gas TSO of Ukraine.
The introduction of bundled capacity products will facilitate the further integration of the Ukrainian natural gas market into the European Union’s internal market, improve the efficient use of cross-border infrastructure, promote cross-border natural gas trade, and strengthen the region’s energy security.
The application period for the allocation of annual capacity at internal entry and exit points has been open since 29 June 2026 and will remain open untill 13 July 2026, inclusive
