Russia’s Gazprom submitted a nomination for the supply of 41.3 mcm of natural gas to Europe through the Ukrainian GTS on Wednesday, February 15. This is evidenced by the nominations of GTS Operator of Ukraine LLC. Compared to the previous day, transit volumes will increase by 34%. It is also the highest level since the first days of the year.
Gazprom will supply most of the gas to Slovakia – 36 mcm, 43% or 11 mcm more than on Tuesday, February 14. In addition, about 5 mcm – to Moldova.
Now, the exact reasons for the increase in the volume of transit supplies are unknown, but probably the decrease in natural gas prices in Europe during the last month has led to an increase in demand for spot purchases of the Russian resource from European traders.
