Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC will be able to buy the entire resource offered by private gas production companies next year if the ban on its export is extended, Naftogaz Chairman Oleksiy Chernyshov said in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine agency during the forum “Ukraine’s Formula for Success. Big day with NV”.
“Naftogaz is ready to purchase the entire volume of gas that the private sector will offer. We will be ready to buy it because the support of companies and their liquidity is important to us so that Ukrainian production does not decrease in any case. I’m sure we’ll handle it, as we did this year, buying 700-800 mcm of gas,” Chernyshov said.
At the same time, he noted that it is about the amount of gas that private companies will not sell on the free market.
“Perhaps they will sell the entire volume, and our participation will not be needed, but now we understand that the economy will not be able to consume this volume yet. Although I hope that consumption will still grow, because it is already growing,” the head of the group added.
Chernyshov also emphasized that Naftogaz is in constant dialogue with the entire industry that produces natural gas in Ukraine and is interested in increasing the motivation of private companies to increase production.
“In this regard, in case of a potential ban on the continuation of exports, private miners should receive an answer on how to economically continue their operation”, – said the head of Naftogaz.
