We need to return to the implementation of the Gas Release Program (the sale of part of the gas produced by Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC on the domestic exchange). After all, these are the obligations undertaken during the gas market reform and prescribed by the third energy package.
This was discussed by market participants at a discussion on the state of development of the natural gas market in Ukraine organized by the Energy Club
“A strong-willed decision must be made,” said Andriy Myzovets, Chairman of the specialized Association.
“If we are talking about a free market in Ukraine, it cannot be one with closed exports and unnecessary imports. Either we are talking about a complete integration of markets, or what we see today is a half-measure.
He pointed out that Europe went through two winters without a deficit without Russian gas. Today, Ukraine has no technical problems in buying imported gas in case of a shortage on the domestic market.
He asked the participants a question: “When will the Ukrainian gas market finally become a full-fledged part of the European market? Because we continue to watch and observe prices on the TTF and other exchanges from behind the fence. Why can’t Ukraine, in case of a deficit, join the common purchases in Europe?
